RGS is the Best!
Rockton Grade School currently houses over 500 students in our pre-kindergarten/early childhood programs through second grade classes. We are fortunate to have available a variety of learning opportunities for our students, including a Title I reading program, special education services, and after-school art/music enrichment programs for first and second graders. In addition to these school-based opportunities, Rockton Grade School offers extra-curricular programs such as Young Rembrandts and STEM for Kids. A special education administrator and social worker are available full-time to help both teachers and students.
Rockton Grade School Mission Statement:
Rockton Grade School provides a caring, nurturing and safe environment. We are a learning community working together with families to serve the social, emotional and educational needs of all children. In keeping with our mission, we welcome parents and guardians to participate in school activities and to be involved in their child’s education. We strive to keep the lines of communication open between teachers, administrators and families with weekly classroom newsletters, email, phone calls, social media apps and fall/spring parent-teacher conferences. We are especially proud of our character program, which has been developed by our school social worker and a team of teachers. Our focus is being responsible, safe and respectful. Key parts of our character program are classroom lessons, assemblies and a character pledge. Educationally, our students are fortunate to be served by an extremely talented and dedicated staff who collaborate with one another to hone their skills and build the best possible learning environment.
Our teachers meet on a regular basis to look at student assessment results and make decisions about instructional interventions that students may need in order to help them achieve to their maximum potential. As a school, we set grade-level goals for student growth each year and monitor progress closely.
