Stephen Mack Welcomes you!
Welcome to Stephen Mack Middle School, the educational home of Rockton’s sixth through eighth graders. The school is named for an early pioneer, the first non-native settler in this area of Winnebago County. Our beautiful school building, erected in 2002, sits atop a hill on a thirty-acre site at the southern edge of Rockton off Old River Road. The school boasts a well-stocked library with a fantastic view, large and well-equipped classrooms, a terrific lunchroom with a full service kitchen and a massive middle school gymnasium.
While we are justifiably proud of our building, child-centered teachers are what make Stephen Mack a great school! Our faculty and staff are committed to middle level students – each has chosen to work with early adolescent children, and is highly qualified under federal Every Student Succeeds ACT standards. Students take five academic subjects: English, Math, Reading, Science and Social Studies. Grade level teams meet daily to coordinate lessons and discuss student concerns. Our curriculum is well coordinated among grades and subjects. Students leave Stephen Mack well prepared for success in high school. The proof of this preparedness is the outstanding job our students do each year on the IAR and iReady tests.
In addition to the core academic subjects, our students are exposed to life studies classes in art, communications, technology, health, physical education, and Spanish. Class Act is our school-wide anti-bullying initiative. Extracurricular activities include art club, band, basketball, cheerleading, choir, drama, geography club, Science Olympiad, National Junior Honor Society, peer support, Spanish club, cross country, yearbook, Quiz bowl, spirit squad, soccer, student council, track & field and volleyball. Parents support our school through involvement in the Parent Teacher Organization and the Rockton Warriors Booster Club.
Stephen Mack Middle School is a great place to obtain your middle school education. If you would like more information or a personal tour of the school, please contact Principal Justin Bonne at 815.624.2611 or e-mail him at bonne@rockton140.org
